The TMCF | Walmart Foundation First-Generation Scholarship Program will provide scholarships for first-year students who are the first in their families to attend college and will attend TMCF member-schools from Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 academic year. The scholarship program provides merit- and need-based scholarships at $6,200 ($3100/semester) each to students who meet the following criteria:
- Be a first-generation student
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a graduating high-school senior
- Be accepted to and prepared to attend one of TMCF’s 47 member-schools
- Have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher in high school
- Be recommended by a high school counselor
- Have demonstrated financial need through the completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- Have demonstrated leadership ability through a variety of measures
To complete your application, please submit the following supporting documents (at the same time that you are completing the application):
- Resume
- 2018-2019 Student Aid Report (received from filing FAFSA)
- Most recent transcript (unofficial or official copy)
- Recommendation from current school faculty or staff member (must be completed online by the recommender)
- Essay: In 500 words or less, please address the following question:
- What does it mean to be the first person in your family to receive a college degree?
