George F. Spencer is currently Chief Innovation and Growth Officer for Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), the only national organization to provide scholarships, programmatic and capacity building support to the 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). To date, TMCF has awarded more than $500 million in such assistance to its students and member- schools. Mr. Spencer currently oversees the business development function, and organization strategies for revenue generation. Mr. Spencer is also responsible for the architecture and management of The National Black Talent Bank, Capacity Building and the newly created TMCF ventures, which serves as an incubator for the ideation of new initiatives.

Mr. Spencer was instrumental in driving growth, profitability and transformation by creating TMCF’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship programming. He has oversight on developing the next generation of entrepreneurs through methodical training, development and funding. Prior to joining TMCF, Mr. Spencer held key leadership positions at one of IAC’s newly launched programming business units serving the online needs of this country’s Black community. Prior to IAC Mr. Spencer served as Senior Software Configuration Manager for IAC real estate and mortgage subsidiary, LendingTree.com. Before joining LendingTree.com, Mr. Spencer spent 8 years with Bank of America as a lead systems engineer specializing in developing strategic release management processes and practices for government and commercial clients.

Mr. Spencer is a founding board member of the Executive Council of New York University’s Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and currently serves on the board of The Center of the Future Academy. He earned his MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Norfolk State University. In 2016, he completed his Executive Certification in International Business Management from Georgetown University. Mr. Spencer is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He is married to Dr. Shawanda L. Spencer and proud parent of one daughter Harper Jean Spencer.
