Scholarship Overview

ETS in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending a private or a publicly-supported Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Eight scholars (four from a private and four from a public HBCU) will be selected to receive a full tuition-only need/merit scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic school year.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be enrolled full-time as a junior or senior during the 2021-2022 academic school year at a public or private HBCU
  • Current grade point average of 3.5 or higher
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551

How To Apply

All Applicants Must: 

  • Provide a copy of the 2021-2022 FAFSA Student Aid Report.
  • Provide the transcript (official or unofficial) for your most recently completed academic term. This should include your end of Fall 2020 grades and cumulative GPA.
  • Provide one recommendation letter from your current university/college president on the school’s letterhead.
  • Provide one recommendation letter from your second recommender -Professor or Advisor.
  • Answer the following essay questions (Maximum of 500 words per question):
    • Of all your courses, educational experiences, and work experience, which one did you find most rewarding or personally satisfying and why?
    • How did your selection help your progression toward your career goal?
  • Answer the following video essay question:
    • Based on your own experience as a high achieving student, what practical advice would you offer to students who seek academic success?
