Scholarship Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Champion Athleticwear are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending one of TMCF’s 47 publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) or a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI). Twenty scholars will be selected to receive scholarships of up to $2,500 for the 2021-2022 academic school year ($1,250 each semester, which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).

Program Eligibility:

  • Be enrolled full-time as an incoming freshman at a TMCF member-school during the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • Current cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or higher.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

How to Apply

All applicants must:

  • Provide the high school transcript (official or unofficial) from your most recently completed academic term. This should include your 2020-2021 fall and spring grades and a cumulative GPA.
  • Answer the following questions (Maximum of 250 words per question):
    • When describing a champion, we believe that they live their lives with heart, integrity, and commitment. In what ways have you exhibited these qualities of a champion in your school, community, or family, in order to make a lasting impact?
