Scholarship Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund in partnership with Lowes is pleased to provide financial assistance scholarships to undergraduate college sophomores, juniors, and seniors at TMCF member-schools who are in good academic standing who are at risk of not returning to school or graduating due to an outstanding financial need and/or emergency situation that leads to a financial crisis. Qualified applicants must have an unmet financial need ranging from $500 to $7,500.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled full-time as a sophomore, junior or senior at a TMCF member-school during the 2019-2020 academic school year
  • Current grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Have an unpaid school balance between $500-$7,500
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
  • Must not currently have a 2019-2020 TMCF Scholarship
  • Must not have previously received the Lowe’s Scholarship

How to Apply

  • Provide a resume that demonstrates community service and leadership abilities.
  • Provide your school’s account balance statement, which must be between $500- $7,500.
  • Provide a transcript (official or unofficial) for your most recently completed academic term, which includes your final Fall 2019 grades and a cumulative GPA
  • Provide an email address for your recommender to complete a reference form where he/she will be required to answer three questions regarding your character.
  • Answer the following questions: (Maximum of 500 words per question): Tell us about your intended career path. How will your major and coursework help you to gain an internship or career opportunity?
