Scholarship Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and McDonald’s are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Sixty-Three (63) scholars will be selected to receive a scholarship up to $15,000 for the 2024-2025 academic school year ($7,500 per semester), which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees.

McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden Scholarship Program also has a partnership with Alkeme Health, a Black wellness community focused on eliminating disparities within the healthcare system. The HBCU Mind for Gold initiative is an effort to promote, educate and provide access to culturally centric health & wellness information, tools, and resources for the HBCU community.  Alkeme will provide lifetime subscriptions to its Alkeme Gold platform to Black & Positively Golden Scholarship recipients for the 2024-2025 academic school year at no charge.  Additionally, Alkeme will provide the first 1250 Black & Positively Golden Scholarship applicants with 1-year subscriptions to the Alkeme Gold Platform for the 2024-2025 academic school year at no charge.

Scholarship recipients will also receive access to additional tools to support their educational goals and career aspirations, including the CliftonStrengths ® assessment and the McDonald’s Learning Management System online learning content to support professional and emotional development, such as resume building, interview practice, and communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior or senior attending HBCU during the 2024-2025 academic school year.
  • Current cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

How to Apply

All Applicants Must:

  • Please upload a professional image in your school logo and/or school colors.
  • Answer the following video question (2 mins max):

  • After submission of the video, the student will be asked if they are currently, or have ever been a McDonald’s team member. This data will be recorded for potential team member scholarship.

This application opens November 1, 2023, and closes March 27, 2024 at 11:59pm EST.
