Scholarship Overview
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Riot Games, Inc. are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending one of TMCF’s 47 publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) or a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI). Five scholars will be selected to receive multi-year scholarships up to $10,000 total during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years ($2,500 per semester, for a total of four semesters), which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be enrolled full-time as a sophomore or junior at a TMCF member-school during the 2020-2021 academic school year
- Have at least four semesters of school remaining
- Be an Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, Interactive Entertainment, Game Design and Development, Art, Animation, Entertainment Arts, Film, or related major
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Be able to demonstrate leadership abilities
- Be able to demonstrate a financial need
- Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
How to Apply
All Applicants Must:
- Upload a copy of their 2020-2021 FAFSA Student Aid Report
- Upload a copy of their current transcript (official or unofficial), including including the Spring 2020 grades and cumulative grade point average
- Upload a current resume
- Provide a current portfolio, which may be either a link to an online portfolio or an upload of a PDF portfolio (examples of portfolio content)
- Provide an email address for a recommender. They will be sent an email with a request to complete a reference form. The form will require answers to three questions about the applicant’s character.
- Respond to both of the below Hirevue video essay prompts (one minute maximum per prompt):
