Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the black college community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and several Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

 

The Graphic Designer is tasked with developing visual concepts, either manually or through the use of computer software, to convey messages that motivate, inform, or engage the constituents of TMCF. This individual will also oversee the creation of the overall layout and production design for the organization’s advertisements, collateral materials, and stationery.

Reporting to:

Chief Marketing Officer

Responsibilities

  • Meet with divisions/clients to determine the scope of a project.
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing on strategies to reach a particular audience.
  • Create images that identify a product or convey a message.
  • Develop graphics and visual or audio images for product illustrations, logos, and websites.
  • Create designs either by hand or using computer software packages.
  • Select colors, images, text style, and layout.
  • Present the design to clients for feedback.
  • Incorporate changes recommended by the clients/divisions/director into the final design.
  • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them.
  • Create and maintain relations with print vendors.
  • Oversee and provide direction for additional creative support.
  • Assist with identification and direction of external photographers.
  • Analyze and oversee external print vendors and print jobs.

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience
  • Full knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CC
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively identify problems and offer creative solutions.
  • The ability to brainstorm, interact, and work in a team environment.
  • High energy and passion for education is essential.

  • Occasional extra work time based on time-sensitive projects.

  • Benefits:                     Health, Dental, FSA, 403(b), up to 10% Bonus Potential
  • Salary: $ 55,000- $ 70,000
