DESCRIPTION:

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the  College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically  Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly  Institutions (PBIs).

Thurgood Marshall College Fund Ventures (TMCFv) via the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is seeking a Program Manager, Consultant. This individual will be crucial in advancing TMCF’s mission and supporting our DevCon professional development conferences for freshmen and sophomores. Under the leadership of the Assistant Vice President of TMCF Ventures, the Program Manager, Consultant will be a key external face of our early talent programs. This role will assist in overseeing the coordination and project management of all aspects of our DevCon conferences including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling program activities. This person will assist with student recruitment and selections, provide end-to-end conference curation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. 

The Program Manager, Consultant will be a key member of the TMCFv team, ensuring seamless program execution, delivery, and effectiveness.

 

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Vice President, TMCF Venture (TMCFv)

 

Scope of Work:

  • Work closely with the marketing team on full-cycle event logistics for all DevCon conferences and TMCFv programming.
  • Assist in leading cross-functional collaboration with marketing, development, programs, and talent & learning teams as needed.
  • Strategize on program execution not limited to partner management, volunteer management, session themes, program outcomes, and post-program engagements.
  • Utilize relevant project management software (i.e. Asana) to manage the needs of the program.
  • Assist in developing a regional recruitment strategy targeting specific HBCUs and PBIs (Predominantly Black Institutions).
  • Communicate regularly with college and university staff, students, and potential program participants.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Vice President, TMCFv to develop program budgets and track associated program expenses.
  • Communicate with DevCon partners regularly regarding their DevCon partnership.
  • Deliver student and partner workshops and webinars face-to-face and virtually in an engaging environment.
  • Work closely with TMCFv Senior Program Manager on DevCon professional development program elements.
  • Update applicant tracking and recruiting systems (i.e. iCIMS, HireVue, Handshake).
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in working with students, community partners, and corporate executives.
  • Impeccable integrity and a commitment to the highest ethical standards.
  • Other duties assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven ability to create and execute talent development strategies
  • 3-5 years of program management experience with knowledge of University Recruiting, and campus engagement
  • Exceptional knowledge of industry hiring standards
  • Demonstrated experience in setting strategic goals and tasks in an innovative and fast-paced environment, excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, analytical skills, and executional ability.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, clients, alumni, senior staff, community leaders, corporate and nonprofit executives, and other stakeholders, as needed.
  • Must be fluent in MS Office Suite for Mac, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder relations, with the ability to work cross-functionally and effectively with diverse teams.
  • Project management skills with the ability to lead multiple, simultaneous projects in various stages of completion.
  • Strong strategic and creative thinker who can distill business strategy into effective recruitment and actionable plans.
  • Extremely discerning individual who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels.
  • Able to work independently and manage projects autonomously, with little or no daily supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends is required.

 

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • This role operates as a remote-travel, telecommuting position. Working from home requires a high degree of discipline. The Program Manager, Consultant is expected to be just as productive as he/she would be in the office during TMCF core working hours, should be readily accessible to fellow team members and supervisors, and is required to make themselves available to participate in calls and meetings as circumstances necessitate.
