Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs, Historically Black Community Colleges (HBCCs)) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Talent Recruiter will specialize in providing talent management services to include identifying, engaging, and attracting exceptional talent from HBCCs, HBCUs and PBIs to meet the hiring needs of TMCF employer partner agreements and activations. The Talent Recruiter will work closely with Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) staff and member schools to develop a cadre of highly motivated students who embody and demonstrate the knowledge and skills sought by the Fund’s corporate and agency partners.

Reports To: Senior Manager of Talent & Learning

Responsibilities

● Collaborate exclusively through virtual means with HBCCs, HBCUs and PBI career centers to foster and enhance robust relationships, while strategically expanding a pool of prospective students for internships, programming and developmental opportunities through Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

● Work closely with Talent Managers and Talent Success Coaches to understand hiring needs and align recruitment efforts accordingly.

● Create and maintain a talent pipeline of candidates for current and future Thurgood Marshall College Fund opportunities.

● Conduct initial assessments of students & qualifications, skills, and career goals to determine suitability for various internships, programming, development programs, and full-time positions through Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

● Utilize various recruitment strategies, such as online job boards, social media platforms, and
professional networks, to source and identify potential job opportunities for college students.
● Reach out to potential candidates through personalized emails, phone calls, and virtual
networking events.
● Build rapport and maintain ongoing communication with students to keep them informed
about Thurgood Marshall College Fund opportunities.
● Monitor and track students' progress in their job search, maintaining accurate records of
applications, interviews, and outcomes.
● Generate regular reports on recruitment metrics and the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives
through an applicant tracking system.
● Collaborate with the team to continuously improve recruitment processes, share best
practices, and develop innovative strategies to enhance students' placement success.
● Stay updated on industry trends, employer requirements, and recruitment practices to provide
accurate and relevant information to students and employers.

Required Competencies and Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Human Resources, Career Counseling, or Business Administration)

● 1-2 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or a related field, preferably working with college students, with knowledge of University Recruiting or University Campus engagement.

● Demonstrated experience in effectively handling numerous concurrent demands without sacrificing work quality.

● Proficiency in using Applicant Tracking Systems with the ability to navigate and utilize the system effectively to manage and track candidate applications, schedule interviews, and maintain candidate profiles and databases.

● Demonstrated experience in navigating and utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.

● In-depth knowledge of the job market, industries, and employer expectations for internships, development programs, and entry-level positions.
● Demonstrated experience in setting strategic goals and tasks in an innovative and fast-paced environment; excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, analytical skills, and executional ability.
● Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage university relations, with the ability to work cross-functionally and effectively with diverse teams.

● Strong strategic and creative thinker who can distill business strategy into effective recruitment and actionable plans.
● Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends is required.
● Prior experience in talent acquisition, campus recruitment, or related roles.
● Knowledge of HBCC, HBCU or PBI institutions, culture, and student demographics.

Special Demands: Travel Requirements: 5 – 10 %
