Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs, Historically Black Community Colleges (HBCCs)) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs)

The Talent Success Coach supports strategies to empower the professional learning, growth and success of the TMCF student talent pipeline. The Talent Success Coach will work closely with TMCF scholars to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources aimed at enhancing their academic, personal, and professional growth.

Senior Manager of Talent & Learning – Coaching

Responsibilities

  • Build strong mentoring relationships with TMCF scholars, offering guidance and support to help them navigate their college journey.
  • Provide individualized coaching sessions to students, guiding them towards achieving their academic and personal goals.
  • Assist scholars in setting and achieving academic, career, and personal development goals.
  • Provide encouragement, motivation, and constructive feedback to scholars as they work towards their objectives.
  • Collaborate with scholars to identify their career aspirations and help them explore opportunities within their chosen field.
  • Offer guidance on resume building, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Review and evaluate student portfolios, including projects, presentations, and other relevant work samples, providing actionable feedback to enhance their marketability and alignment with the needs of employers.
  • Evaluate students’ progress and performance using an established scorecard and assessment tools.
  • Facilitate virtual, and occasional in person, workshops and seminars on career development topics.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with students to assess their progress and address any concerns or barriers to success
  • Promote leadership development, self-confidence, and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student evaluations and coaching sessions
  • Stay updated on best practices in student evaluation and coaching techniques to continuously enhance the effectiveness of the coaching process
  • Other Duties Assigned


Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as education, psychology, counseling, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in student evaluation, coaching, or mentoring roles
  • Strong knowledge of assessment tools and techniques, including the use of scorecards or rubrics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students
  • Empathetic and patient approach, with the ability to adapt coaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to analyze student data and identify areas for improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to support student success
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively manage and track student evaluations and coaching sessions
  • Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools for student assessment and coaching is a plus
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices in student evaluation and coaching techniques.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends is required.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Must have effective communication skills, including active listening, necessary for building rapport with students and understanding their needs. Clear and concise communication is also vital when providing feedback and guidance.
  • Adaptability and flexibility: Must be skilled in tailoring coaching approach and strategies to meet the specific needs of each student.

 

Special Demands:

Travel Requirements: 20 – 30%

Employee Type:     Full-time
Salary:     $60,000-$65,000
Benefits:     Health, Dental, FSA, 403(b), up to 10% Bonus Potential
