Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the black college community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and several Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Digital Strategist will help build a strong web and digital communications strategy focused on providing the best user experience. The Digital Strategist will collaborate with division leadership to generate digital content in support of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund brand. The Digital Strategist will be tasked with analyzing user experience data, initiating digital projects, reporting on planned and current strategies, and leading effective digital marketing strategies to maximize brand engagement.

Vice President of Marketing

 Responsibilities

  • Partners with the communications and marketing team on building a web strategy that maximizes the use of TMCF resources to support the brand, drive user engagement and contributes to the organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Advises on best practices and creative solutions that showcase TMCF’s strengths and elevate user engagement across digital channels.
  • Writes and edits content that accurately reflects the overall TMCF brand and message.
  • Reviews and tests websites for accuracy, functionality, editorial style
  • Makes website content changes and updates in a content management system.
  • Trains and supports employees who contribute to website content.
  • Conducts project discovery and makes recommendations based on stakeholder interviews, user input, content inventories, website audits, competitive assessments and metrics.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations for site strategy based on analytics and SEO goals.
  • Helps create and implement editorial policies that ensure quality, accuracy and consistency across TMCF’s channels of communication.
  • Contributes to TMCF’s production volume by creating some digital pieces and updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience 
  • Understanding of the user experience (UX design)
  • HTML knowledge and/or web design, digital marketing work, and/or organizational branding
  • Wide knowledge of digital and other content delivery platforms
  • Skilled at brainstorming, deadline-driven, organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience as a content strategist or information architect
  • Experience writing and editing for the web.
  • Knowledge of web structure, user experience, accessibility standards, and industry trends
  • Proficiency with AP Style

  • Benefits: Health, Dental, FSA, 403(b), up to 10% Bonus Potential
  • Salary: $ 55,000- $ 70,000
