Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the black college community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and several Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Webmaster serves as the primary contact for all aspects of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) website, handling a range of responsibilities including web design and development, routine site and content maintenance, and various updates to ensure the site aligns with the goals and objectives of TMCF. The Webmaster ensures that accessibility standards are practiced with documents, media, and webpages on the website. The Webmaster also ensures the coordinated development, communication, and implementation of web projects, policies, and procedures, and collaborates with all TMCF Division web users to understand and meet users’ website needs.

Vice President of Marketing

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary contact for all aspects of the TMCF website.
  • Develops and maintains internet and intranet portals, forms, and structures in accordance with the organization’s needs.
  • Encourages and facilitates consistent, creative, and unified web design across TMCF’s web properties.
  • Works with content authors to create, gather, and edit content for the TMCF website using the CMS.
  • Aids in the development and support of web content management system infrastructure, including templates, reusable components, and customized solutions.
  • Collects and analyzes web analytics and similar data; identifies opportunities to improve search engine optimization (SEO), time on site, web traffic, and other relevant metrics.
  • Assists employees with use of the TMCF website through one-on-one support, user guides, and training sessions.
  • Establishes policies and procedures for TMCF on web-related issues and processes.
  • Ensures compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards; software licenses; and applicable state and federal laws and regulations including data security, privacy, and intellectual property laws.
  • Serves as a valuable resource for web usability best practices and accessibility compliance, staying informed on the latest industry standards.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in website design or related field required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in website development and administration
  • Expert knowledge of web standards and technologies
  • Thorough understanding of website design principles and practices
  • Thorough understanding of content management principles and practices 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent website design and maintenance skills, using common web standards and technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, XML, XSL, Javascript, PHP, Photoshop, Acrobat, web browsers, and other web applications or systems as needed)
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse constituencies with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • An understanding of accessibility issues related to disabled users.
