Universities (HBCUs) students in Science, Technology, Education, and Mathematics (STEM)

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) announced that J.M. Huber Corporation (Huber), a global, family-
owned specialty materials manufacturing company has made a $100,000 donation to provide scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs) students in Science, Technology, Education, and Mathematics (STEM) education programs. The Huber donation will award 10, $10,000 J.M. Huber HBCU Scholarships to students pursuing STEM-related degrees for the 2024-2025 school year.

TMCF promotes Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) by designing strategies, offering scholarships, and curating programs to attract and retain diverse talent for its corporate partners. Huber’s continuous support of TMCF reflects their strong commitment to DE&I. Huber’s partnership with TMCF began in 2022 and has provided more than 170 students with scholarships to help them reach their career aspirations and alleviate financial burdens.

“Receiving a $10,000 scholarship has had a significant positive impact on my academic and personal life. A scholarship of this amount covered a huge portion of my tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses. This scholarship alleviated my financial stress, allowing me to focus more on my studies,” says Aquil Hayes, a freshman majoring in nursing at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

“We are thrilled to be continuing our support of TMCF and providing access to STEM education for HBCU students,” says Lea Volpe, Vice President of Communications & Community Relations for Huber. “As a 6th generation family-owned company, our purpose to improve lives for generations drives our efforts to make quality education more accessible to those who need it in the communities where we live and work.”

TMCF continues to create a more equitable society by removing financial barriers to obtaining a college degree and providing economic mobility for Black students and their communities through its programs and scholarships. As the country’s largest champion of the Black college community, TMCF has awarded more than $500 million in scholarships and leadership development to over 300,000 HBCU students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities or Predominantly Black Institutions.
