TMCF President/CEO Williams discusses Better FAFSA

Thurgood Marshall College Fund President and CEO Dr. Harry L. Williams talks about the challenges, setbacks, and concerns of the new Better FAFSA form stating that, “The changes in the FAFSA process adds an additional layer of complexity to an already intricate system, creating more hurdles for Black students to access and secure the financial aid that is crucial for their educational journey.”

Williams said that, “FASFA is a necessary resource for HBCUs, which have a long history of being underfunded and their students, as Black and African American college graduates owe an average of $25,000 more in student loan debt than white college graduates largely attributable to the disparity in household wealth and, as a consequence, more significantly shoulder the burden of student debt.”
