Scholarship Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Ally are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate seniors planning to attend an accredited law school in the United States. Two (2) scholars will be selected to receive a four year scholarship up to $20,000 per Academic year starting with the 2021-2022 academic school year, which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled full-time as a senior student during the 2021-2022 academic school year at a TMCF member-school.
  • Interested in or accepted to a U.S. accredited law school
  • Be an African American or Black.
  • Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  • Participate in the Ally Legal Department Mentor and Professional Development Program webinars for the duration of the multi-year scholarship.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

How to Apply

All Applicants Must:

  • Provide a copy of the 2021-2022 FAFSA Student Aid Report.
  • Provide the transcript (official or unofficial) for your most recently completed academic term-this should include your end of Fall 2020 grades and cumulative GPA.
  • Provide an email address for one recommender to complete a required three-question character reference form.
  • Answer the following questions:
    • In essay format (Maximum of 500 words)
      • What makes you interested in the legal profession, and how has your personal experience prepared you for a career in law?
    • In Hirevue format (Up to 1 min)
      • Which of your accomplishments makes you most proud, and why?
