Scholarship Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), and Copeland Capital, are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending one of TMCF’s member-schools that include 47 publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). One (1) scholar will be selected to receive a scholarship up to $8,500 ($4,250 per semester) for the 2021-2022 academic school year (which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled full-time as an incoming freshman, TMCF member-school during the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • For Incoming Freshmen – Provide proof of acceptance into or enrollment at a TMCF member-schools as an incoming freshman during the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • Open to Finance, Accounting or STEM majors.
  • Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

How to Apply

All Applicants Must:

  • Provide a copy of the 2021-2022 FAFSA Student Aid Report.
  • For Incoming Freshman – Provide the high school transcript (official or unofficial) from your most recently completed academic term. This should include your (Spring/ 2020) and a cumulative GPA.
  • Please provide an email address for one recommender to complete a character reference form. They will be required to answer three questions regarding your character reference.
  • Answer the following questions:
    • Essay Question (Maximum of 250 words per question)
      • Tell us about your intended Financial Industry career path. How will your major and coursework help you to gain an internship or career opportunity?
    • Hirevue Video Question (up to 1 min)
      • Please tell me about yourself and your professional aspirations. Why are you interested in becoming a Copeland Capital Scholar?
      • What about Copeland Capital purpose appeals to you most, and why?
