Scholarship Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), and National Cooperative Bank are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). Seventeen (17) scholars will be selected to receive a scholarship up to $2,500 for 2021-2022 academic school year (which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees.)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled full-time as a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior at an HBCU during the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • Open to declared business major: economics, accounting, business administration, or finance.
  • For Incoming Freshmen – Provide proof of acceptance into or enrollment as an incoming freshman during the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

How to Apply

All Applicants Must:

  • Provide a copy of the 2021-2022 FAFSA Student Aid Report.
  • Provide the transcript (official or unofficial) for your most recently completed academic term-this should include your end of Fall 2020 grades and cumulative GPA.
  • For Incoming Freshmen – Provide the high school transcript (official or unofficial) from your most recently completed academic term. This should include your Fall 2020 and a cumulative GPA.
  • Please provide an email address for one recommender to complete a character reference form. They will be required to answer three questions regarding your character reference.
  • Answer the following statement. (Maximum of 500 words per question):
    • Which three short- or long-term goals are important for you to achieve, and how do you plan to achieve them? These could be academic, financial, personal, professional, etc.
