TMCF NRG HBCU Excellence in Education Scholarship Program- Guidelines
Scholarship Overview
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and NRG, Energy, Inc. are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). Ten (10) scholars will receive a fall need-based scholarship of up to $10,000 for the 2024-2025 academic school year (to be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate junior during the 2024-2025 academic year at one of the schools listed below:
- Prairie View A&M University
- Texas Southern University
- Open to designated majors:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
- Marketing
- Communications
- Business
- Finance
- Accounting
- Legal
- Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Able to demonstrate a financial need.
- Must have the 2024-2025 FAFSA on file at your selected university/college by the time of selection.
- Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.
How to Apply
All Applicants Must:
- Answer the following statement (Video) (Maximum of 2 minutes – Please record in a quiet environment with adequate lighting):
- Tell us about a time when you succeeded or failed. What were your learnings from the experience?
- Students can submit a resume (OPTIONAL).
- It should include but not be limited to references demonstrating active participation and leadership in non-academic endeavors, which can consist of school-based extracurricular activities, volunteer work, employment, sports, or any combination of out-of-class achievement.
