|Howze joined Deere in 2001 as an attorney. He later served as senior attorney, senior counsel and Manager, Business Development. Howze was elected Corporate Secretary and Associate General Counsel in 2006. In that position, Howze was responsible for corporate governance matters, as well as legal and regulatory aspects of Deere’s financial transactions, including its filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.In 2008, Howze was assigned to Deere’s agricultural marketing group. In 2009, he became Factory Manager, John Deere Turf Care, where he was responsible for the manufacture of the Deere’s commercial mowing and golf course maintenance equipment. Howze was later appointed Global Director, Cotton Harvesting Product Line where he was responsible for Deere’s Global Cotton Harvesting business with factories in the US, China and Israel.
Prior to joining John Deere, Howze served in the U.S. Army as an artillery officer and in various capacities as a judge advocate including assignments as Special Assistant United States Attorney and procurement attorney specializing in federal government contracts
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Howze earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Howze serves on the North Carolina A&T State University Board of Visitors. Savoy Magazine recognized Howze as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America” in 2014. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and a member of the Illinois and Michigan Bar associations.
