As an international student attending an HBCU, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute has exposed me to a platform with a multitude of opportunities. The path to the Leadership Institute taught me how to leverage my strengths and weaknesses. Being an international student makes it is easy to shy away from talking or networking with potential employers due to the fear of being rejected. However, the Leadership Institute encouraged me to look past my barriers and motivated me to take advantage of the moment. Aside from the opportunities of employment and internships, the Leadership Institute gives each participant the resources to develop their brand, build their professional networks, and access to successful men and women who can help with the transition from college to a professional career. As an international student those were the experiences that I valued the most and would encourage my fellow international students to take advantage of as well.
