About Citi Foundation

The Citi Foundation works to promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities around the world. We invest in efforts that increase financial inclusion, catalyze job opportunities for youth, and reimagine approaches to building economically vibrant communities. The Citi Foundation’s “More than Philanthropy” approach leverages the enormous expertise of Citi and its people to fulfill our mission and drive thought leadership and innovation.

Pathways to Progress is the Citi Foundation’s job skills-building initiative that addresses the persistent, global issue of youth unemployment. Through a combination of Citi Foundation philanthropic investments, Citi employee volunteers, career development opportunities at Citi, and research, Pathways to Progress aims to address the skills mismatch and equip young people, particularly those from underserved communities, with the skills and networks needed to succeed in today’s rapidly changing economy. Since launching Pathways to Progress in 2014, the Citi Foundation has invested more than $230 million globally in workforce preparation.

In 2020, Citi and the Citi Foundation announced Action for Racial Equity, a comprehensive set of strategic initiatives that harness the core capabilities of each institution to help close the racial wealth gap in the U.S. As part of this effort, the Citi Foundation is providing $100 million in grants to support community change agents addressing issues of racial equity in each of our focus areas, including our signature Pathways initiative, by 2023.
