About the Novartis US Foundation and the TMCF Alliance

The mission of the Novartis US Foundation is to improve health in underserved communities in the United States by creating innovative and sustainable solutions to expand access to healthcare and build trust within the healthcare system. It does this by supporting sustainable programs and partnerships that strengthen health systems, eliminate barriers to quality health services and enhance local communities.

The Novartis US Foundation is partnering with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) over 10 years, as an initial step in creating equitable access to affordable high-quality education for development of future leaders, particularly in health and social equity-related fields. This partnership puts HBCUs at the center of creating solutions, through several strategies, including establishing faculty research grants and supporting annual scholarships, career readiness and leadership development for HBCU students.

The faculty research grants will focus on health equity and provide data for actionable solutions. Our aim is to ultimately help HBCU college and graduate level students achieve their ambitions to excel academically and professionally, while contributing to the reduction of the generational wealth gaps that impact Black/African American families.
